Castle Grant on the outskirts of Grantown-on-Spey has been sold for over £1.1million after just 2 weeks on the market .
Music industry PR man Jordan Harkins, from Aberdeen, tweeted: “Just found out my auntie bought the castle Craig Whyte was evicted from … might tell her to rent him back a room seeing as he is a legend.”
Kevin Maley, of selling agents Strutt & Parker, said: “This has been a very quick sale for a property of this size.
“But it is a fantastic place in a great setting at a very good price indeed.”
Whyte bought the castle for £720,000 in 2006 with a 110 per cent mortgage but he fell into arrears with the £7000-a-month mortgage payments.
His lender took him to court in Inverness but the day before he was forced to give up the keys, the Record caught Whyte’s dad Tom siphoning oil from the heating system and removing fittings.

The turrets were only added to the 1625 property in the 19th century and have never housed archers. Other more modern additions include a wet room and sauna, a handmade oak kitchen with a built-in American fridge freezer, and outbuildings housing a gym and games room. There are seven bedrooms, but you’ll have to climb all the way up to the third floor to rest your head in the master bedroom. Climb more stairs and you can survey your 3.65 acres from your very own battlements. The price is almost as lofty as the top floor tower room: £2.9m.In today’s market , only a rich Russian or American are likely to be interested. Although Britain is supposed to be coming out of recession , the property market remains flat , even at the top level.
